Paypal 'Pre-approved Payments'
« on: December 31, 2017, 10:19:41 am »

Just a quick note, without notification I've just paid a company £160 via Paypal!    >:-o

I do use the company that invoice me, (through Paypal), but there must be 'some sort of accounting error' and the company just made up a figure and took it without any sort of notification!    >>:-(

I have now raised a Paypal dispute but I recommend you, like I just have, your Paypal account for "My Pre-approved Payments" (like I just have!) and check to see what's there. I was shocked to see I had 18 accounts that can take payments from my account, 5 with Ebay alone!  :o

Login to you Paypal  >  Settings (gearwheel)  >  Payments  Pre-approved payments  >  Manage Pre-approved payments - here you can Cancel or Unsubscribe any or all payments.

   Rant mode off........ and relax.

Yes, thanks for the heads up Martin. Just checked mine and as well as Ebay had one for Google which I've now cancelled.

I hate things like that, especially automatically renewing insurance when they think they are doing you a favour! More like an opportunity for them to rip us off.  >>:-(

Yes but most are like Google ( etc.) T&C's ... 'Accept or you can't have it'!

Good alert Martin, Thank you.
Found one that was four years old, no activity since, but I didn't know it was there.

Nope.

Agree Not directly with pay pal but you have to set one up with some company the trouble is if you don't look at your  P/P account  you don't know its there and if you cancel with the company if  they No tell paypal so it stays active and perhaps  ''There be Dragons''

I have just deleted 6 that I no longer use, including Ebay sellers fees.

Mind you that was limited to £165,000 per month.

Rule of thumb.

Never ever set up or approve direct debiting to any of your accounts or any periodical payments no matter how 'reputable' the recipient is.

Murphy always wins and it costs far more to undo the damage than to pay as you 'buy'.

Your eager to please lending institution, will approve debiting your account as the precedent already exists and when you try to get your cash back, how did the 'merchant' get your account details if you didn't disclose them.

Some on-line services don't give you a choice and most frustratingly bury it deep in the 'fine print'.

Insidious marketing, made famous by car insurance shysters and gym memberships!

Ah well, I know now! Need to check my Bank Statements now.....  {:-{
