I have only just started my next build boat,( still lots to do on the Cervia) . But saw an engine for sale (not Ebay) and just had to have it for the new build. Given it a small clean up and spruced up  the paint and am really pleased with it . Run smoothly on air and no slop in bearings at all. Intend to re-make the steam and exhaust manifolds as the existing are a bit clunky.


Oh yes, sorry  it is a Marcher.

Great looking engine. I see it is the spool valve version, I abandoned building mine as the spool valve version due to fears of not getting the valves to seal, so opted for slide valve version.


Nice to hear that it runs well on air & sure it will perform well on steam!


Have you also got the regulator valve & associated piping that will give you forward & reverse? The drawings show it having a size that's about 1/3d of size of the engine!

Hi Ian.
    Yes I have the regulator valve as well as the pipework and the lubricator , as you say they are a bit big. This is why I wish to alter the arrangement to try and make a neater layout but it might mean longer steam and exhaust lines.
