Setting up a club - help needed
« on: June 28, 2018, 02:11:00 pm »

Hi All,
Hope this is ok to post here.
I have been trying, for some time now, to set up a club in my local area.
We have quite a few interested parties -prospective members- and a good number of possible waters that could be suitable, all of which are managed by the council.

Over the past Year I've been trying to find someone at the council who would give permission for a properly organised group (with insurance and proper wildlife/environmental policies and risk assessments etc)to use one of these for a couple of hours each Sunday but I simply can't even get an answer. All roads lead to a dead end of "We'll get back to you" and that's it.

There are a couple of other clubs in the County that all run from Council lakes but they are a good 40 minute drive away for the closest one and for the amount of people I have interested so far (about 8) I think there's enough to merit one here.

Does anyone have experience of setting up a club from scratch and finding a water to use?

Many thanks in advance,
Alex

Hey Alex,

Have you tried talking to the MPBA as yet?

Thanks Gents,

Had a good chat with Klunk this Morning and SteamboatPhil I'll probably be bothering you at some point in the next week or so too if that's ok.

More achieved in a Morning with the help of Mayhem than the past 2 years of trying to badger the council!
