Do you use scraps of wood to heighten motor, cut hole at sharper angle


Any photos of how you guys get by this?

Ask yourself whether you are trying to lift the back of the model out of the water by pushing the water down or whether you want the propeller to push it forward.


Generally the nearer the propeller shaft is to horizontal the better. A slight push down is often fine but 45 degrees?????????????

You need to pack the rear of the motor up. If you can get the prop shaft nearer the horizontal so much the better. Where did you measure 45 degrees? Doesn't look that much more like 30.

Hi boxer, that angle is a lot better, but you could do with a little more under the motor mounting
You have plenty of room above the motor so space is not a problem.

The essence of this is straightforward, the sterntube \ prop shaft, should have the least angle you can manage that ensures the prop clears the hull, and the motor will line up with it. The motor shaft should be in line with the prop shaft. That type of u/j is for helping with slight misalignment, not for large angle changes. Mount the motor on any bits of scrap that will help it line up as well as you can and be secure.
 An extra tip, before screwing the motor down, connect it to a low voltage battery, if the motor/ uj/and shaft are running true you can hear it. If it is noisy, or coarse move the motor a little, and you will find the perfect position.
