Yeh i was looking at them new three wheeled ones the other day and wondering what i could cut off, they also have bigger wheels to get over the rough paths at the lake.

I use two butchered seat belts as slings, slide under the hull and lower in/out of the water.

I use a truck purchased from Machine Mart. Large pneumatic tyres and the ability to adapt the wooden slats to suit different models.

Works for me. and yes, I took the plants out first !  ;D

Hi all I tried several types of trolley (scratch built B.Y) and the main problem to overcome is vibration and shaking the model .
My current trolley was originally made to sit in the well of the car boot and I use pneumatic tyres at low pressure < 5lbs to smooth out the bumps on the path to the pond.  Works a treat.

One of our members built this trolley for launching and retrieval. You still have to lift the model from the car into the trolley, but the rest is easy. The type of wheels would depend on the terrain at your sailing site.

I have a single wheeled trolly as used by fishermen to carry thier kit it's light and folds down so it can be put in the car when not in use and takes little space and will carry two fairly large models at a time , my Lady Woos and my Odin (one of each there , one scratch built and one kit built) I can also use it as a seat or even a table

Interesting Bob, could you explain a little more. How exactly does a one wheel trolley work ? Excuse my ignorance but I never have done that hobby where you teach worms to swim.  :embarrassed:

I have an even simpler solution I take the wife she carries and launches the models and retreives them for me, as If I carry them my self like Richard I cannot breath very well, fortunately the missus has lung that would drown out a police siren, hence she does the carrying....... 8) 8) 8)

Think there are called "wheelbarrows" Dicky   ;D

Russ. My truck works fine over the bumps at Westport and even better on the tarmac paths.  I was thinking of motorising it but would just add extra weight to the whole thing.  I can get the truck in the car without out dismantling but it all depends on the height available within your vehicle.

I use a fold - flat two wheel aluminium  sack (?) trolley for the Thames barge and 'A' yacht so that I can launch/retrieve from the concrete side of the lake by sailing over the immersed trolley. It's a salt water lake so don't know how long before the salt has a go at the aluminium.

it's easy Dicky you just life the handles and push it along to where you want to go and then you set it down so easy even you with your admitted limited intelligence could do it

It's interesting to see your trolley, Terry.  I was at Harrogate Flower show last week and there was a trolley with a trike attached to the front at a cracking price of £85.  It had a swivel connector and would be perfect for a long trip at the pondside with the boat on the back.

I suppose the more enterprising ones among us could build a R/C controlled unit and get some cred in the posing stakes!!

This is what I built. It's a childrens cycle trailer from Halfords, the canopy has been removed and decking fitted. The framework is plastic conduit and pipe lagging. It can carry two 1/96 scale warships. It also fits in the car without the wheels and keeps the models secure.
