The upper superstructure is all 1.5mm apart from the sole plate @ 2mm

That's the base done

Now my attempt to make a demountable roof

Thanks for the info Howard  O0

This is exacting work! I'm not gluing these until I've made their mirrored counterparts.

Once they're all in place the roof will be opened up raised and a bulkhead fitted behind the bank of windows.

Now it's up to the imagination. The seperate roof is going well but I need to make a raised or sloping roof now within the window area.

I think the roof should slope from front to back so any water that landed on it would run off, if that's what you were talking about.

Hello Andy ,

For my tug " RMT PENFRET " the wheelhouse roof is slighly inclined backwards . As it is the same naval architec who designed these 2 tugs I think he must have done the same thing on both of them .

Hi Andy. Might I ask what solvent you tried for polystyrene before?  I saw a deluxe bottle in background before and wondering if that had been the problem, other than that I warned Maquette styrene is a bit different from "regular" polystyrene sheets.  From experience I just hope you reinforce those joints. I think cutting windows is much easier before the parts are bonded.  To do it after you make a hard job look easy!  It is coming together nicely and polystyrene sheet is so nice to finish and prep for paint, so much less effort than ply but each to their own.

I have many styrene adhesives and they’re all crap being too slow.
I only use ZapAGap CA
Brian uses CA too
It sticks fast and after full cure stronger than the styrene

Thank you Rich  :-))

Thank you Steve  :-))

Back to Rich and comment about cutting out before or after.
As you see from my Portgarth this is what I did

For styrene I saw no reason to change from what works for me and my styrene structure is easily as strong if not stronger plus it won't splinter.
As a beginner without advice or teaching I do what I think best, this may often be advantageous.

Styrene  ROCKS !!

So this morning the aim was to complete the roof

I soon realised from pictures that the back end is where the roof drains and I needed to radically change my plans to enable this.

It's really coming along...
Do you draw straight on to the plastic sheeting and cut out from there or plot it out on card first and use that as a template?
