From 1st thing Saturday, booking in items happens, although I will be having a word with the guy who runs it to see if starting to book in Friday is at all possible.
The important thing to remember with our bring n buy is the 10% commission, which is presented to the RNLI at the end of the show.

Usually you just turn up on the day and take whatever you have to the bring and buy.

Blackpool and Fylde MBC did not run the B&B this year, the new people had their own ideas.

Thanks Malcolm we were discussing it on the way home and most had thought it went to the RNLI
but the others had said that it didn't

looks like I was in the wrong side :embarrassed:

I wanted to get my facts right, so I contacted AMW, and below is their reply.

Quote
As discussed we dropped the sale prices which equated to around 6 to 7%
commission. For those that wanted to use 10% on sold we allowed them this.

Therefore the bring and buy possibly did not net as much money as previous
years however a donation to the RNLI of 250 is to be made and this added to
the other £400 + value of stands they enjoy over the weekend makes for a
tidy sum.

The sums quoted are well in line with previous donations that we, as Blackpool & Fylde MBC, have managed to make in previous years, when the venue owners were only seeking a profit, rather than a huge profit.  There are other B&Bs run at other shows whose operators have made the point that the headline rate at Blackpool was higher than theirs, while totally ignoring the fact that ours was, and still is, run to benefit the RNLI rather than the club or to boost the show finances.  It should also be remembered that no show, whether run by a trader or a club, that runs in a venue that has to be paid for, needs hardware to be hired and advertising to be paid for, can ever be anything but commercial.  It has to wind up in the black if it is going to have a chance to reappear the next year.

I was just reading AMW's quote about sending the RNLI the sum of £250 from the bring and buy sale, has this happened yet.

I contacted Mark at AMW, and his reply is that he has made an online contribution on a personal basis amounting to £300 when the accrued gift aid is included.  Well in line with what we managed to donate in cash in previous years.
Its probably a lot more than other shows manage, since usually the implication is that the beneficiary of the B&B is either the show itself or the organising club.
