Deck vents wanted
« on: August 06, 2019, 11:25:47 am »

Can anyone steer me towards a supplier of deck vents suitable for a 1930 - 40s type launch / speedboat, about 3/4 - 1" wide, metal. Or if you have any yourself, I would be interested. I require at least 3 of these but 6 would be better. Thanks.

This is the closest I've personally seen off the shelf but would need painting:

Might be a bit small though.  If you want metal do you have any 20mm copper pipe scraps?  I'd be tempted to dig a hacksaw and some files out or you could cut from brass sheet?  You might be a bit like me though and end up with 2 perfect, 2 under-scale and 2 completely different cutting by hand though LoL.

Many thanks for that Rich, I'll get in touch with Cornwall Model Boats and see if they have any options on the size. As for making my own, I can cut out from thin sheet but cannot bend the scoop profile, I think I would need a former to get a double rounded shape and a set of gas bottles! :-)) .
