I remember that a long time ago there was a guy who went under the name of Captain Barry - I forget his surname -  who marketed several rather clever model boat gizmos using programmable chips. I'm sure one of them was a motor mixer. I think he's left us now but can anyone else remember him and/or his devices? This might just be one of them.

That's the bloke I remember - I kept think of Seinfeld but I knew there was a K somewhere.. A clever chap.
Revealing that the photo of the set-up on the French website has an 8-pin chip with a label marked  '8069B' stuck on it. In fact that picture resembles the circuit in the OP so much that it must be the same. Otherwise too much of a coincidence, methinks.
Now why can't I remember things that happened yesterday?

I peeled the sticker off the chip it also shows 8069B on the paper covering the board

Just while kinda on the subject. Used this which I was told at work was an oilier. Tried very hard to find these on the net. I need new ones to flux my soldering joints. Does any member know where they can be purchased from ? "Swiss made" stamped on it.

There must be plenty of other sites with similar items.
Curious to know what sort of solder and flux you're using and on what sort of material.

Never used them myself. Some o-ring pickers are much the same, or file a thinner tip. Or dressmakers pins pushed into wine bottle cork or a bit of plastic tube usually works the same for me.

Dave & Ned cheers  Gents  for the input. I use Superflow Flux Brand ( B & Q ). Its for lead free soldering.  I Use the technique where the solder jumps to a fluxed joint. If the joint is fluxed the solder jumps back to the bolt.. best way I know of keeping heat down on a small PCB.
