Servo torque

(1/1)

Jonty:
I've just bought a couple of 9g micro servos from Fast Components - the company lives up to its name. I need them as steering servos to fit into a very small space, but only now has it occurred to me that they may not have enough poke to do the job.

The quoted torque is 1.2kg/cm. Is this enough to work the rudder on a fairly slow 30" boat?

White Ensign:
Jonty, it`s depending some facts: Size of the rudder, is it placed in the propwash a.s.o.
1,2 kg might be o.K.- but I think it is the limit. Anyway, I think you can go on with that, but make sure that in case of damage you could change the servo.

Jonty:
Thanks, Jorg. The rudder is balanced, so I'll hope for the best.

How do you do an umlaut?
