Coming towards the end of replacing skirting boards and architraves and decorating a couple of bedrooms started before Christmas and instead of just painting the built-in wardrobe decided to do something about the slope over the stairs inside it which is a waste of space.

Using some 10mm birch ply I'd bought for making boat carry boxes, but is a bit hefty really, and some laminated chipboard from old bedroom furniture,  I've formed three steps and a shelf to provide storage. Made use of my aliphatic resin and clamps used for model boats.

Been doing a bit on and off on my model boats and am currently scratch building a 1:12 Fairey Huntsman 31 Sport. Just fitting the hull skins.

Upon further investigation, it seemed to be the fuse in the extension lead had blown. Changed and still not working.

...Just to say a classic shoolboy error!  Always check for a fault before restoring power again.  The fuse did it's job.

For the past few days Madam has done a beautiful job of digging and weeding the garden ready for planting... I've been watching the action from the Shed.

Just about to sit out there with a coffee and elevenses

Cut back honeysuckle growth having cut thru' the roots last autumn and very nearly killed it!
Left the top twigs on for now. Then I painted the fence with ronseal preserver. Expensive stuff that.

I have removed an none working electric organ from the village church (with permission from the Beadle) then stripped it down to recycle. Wood, metal plastic built in 1979 . Lots of electronics ,and a multitap  transformer . It will make a good  bench top power supply. This job has wanted doing for 2and a half years .

Hi Stan, I've been keeping busy with my 00 gauge railway, this is the seventh layout I've build over the last 10 years and finally it's one I'm happy with, this hobby and of course model boat building have helped keep me sane since retiring 10 years ago and even more so now we are so restricted.

Just one of many little jobs today in a quest to maximise space.
I dismantled this charger and fitted 2 angle brackets so I can wall mount it near a spare socket.

Thanks Dave, it's aprox 8' square with a center space for operation and a lift up section to walk in, it's DCC control which means there is a chip in each loco and the rails are always live with 18 volts and 6 of my locos have sound as you say expensive but I've added running stock over a number of years.

Thanks for the update Andy.

Hard to tell from the photos - does the unit have sufficient ventilation in that area?

Looks like quite a thick tabletop, would smoulder for a good while before catching light, giving plenty of warning. Hopefully.

The vents are not blocked and I cannot say I've ever noticed it get hot in use in over 2 yrs. The iron is the bit that gets hot LOL

If it suffered from heat it would need better than a plastic housing. Its only a transformer at the end of the day and 60watts isn't going to keep the room warm  :-)

Good points you made there Andy - that's me jumping the gun without thinking about what I'm looking at :embarrassed:

Anyway, you've come up with a good solution to saving bench space - nice one  :-))

Over the last fortnight, I've done the garden's post-winter tidy, put up 15 shelves, turned the Kitchen Cupboard of Doom into a walk-in thing of beauty, and the Understairs Cupboard of Horror, the same. Today's tasks included bread and muffin making, followed by a three-hour boatshed tidy.

Work wasn't this full on.

SCREWFIX are still open for click and collect orders.
Great service of one in one out, just give the last four of your order number and surname. No human contact whatsoever and collect your order off a table

I bought these for further workshop optimisation

Except, as things stand at the moment you are not allowed to drive to the shop for inessential shopping! And now they are talking about forbidding people to leave their homes even for exercise because of the activity of a 'small minority' flouting the rules. These people probably dont watch the news, read the papers or simply don't care etc. and they will carry on offending anyway so why penalise the rest of us?
