Model Marine Plant Questions
« on: April 08, 2020, 09:39:00 pm »

Hi Everyone,

A few years ago I bought this steam plant off eBay with the intention of fitting it into my clyde puffer, an idea that I am finally getting around to nearly 5 years and one house move later!

I could do with some assistance, I believe I have a Cheddar Marine boiler and believe I know the boss threads in the boiler, but if someone knows for sure before I go buying taps that kind of sort of don;t fit I would be most grateful

Just out of idle curiosity, I would also like to know the manufacturer of the engine, as everyone I have asked so far doesn't  recognise it

Many thanks for help offered in advance

Hi
I think you'll find Cheddar used 1/4 X 32 with exception of the filler/safety valve (forgotten what thread that is maybe 26) the engine is a Cheddar "Pintail"

Cheers

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the response, the 1/4 x 32 seems to be right, I have a 1/4 x 40 Me and that is the right size, but the wrong thread, so won't go in, will do  more digging with regards the other thread

Hi Alex

If you look at Clevedon Steam, Jerry does lots of bits for Cheddar models.

Hi Mike,

Yes, been looking through their catalogue at some bits and pieces planning my next build, going to convert my Clyde Puffer model into a duel drive model, full steam or standard electric for those days you don't want the mess and hassle of a steam plant

Thanks for the advice

Hi Alex

Hope to see some pictures, sounds an interesting build.

I'm in the middle of a Kingston Moulding yacht tender, waiting for a boiler from Pendle steam .

Cheers
