Pocher 1/4 Ducati resuscitated
« on: August 02, 2020, 07:55:18 pm »

Hi all I decided to resurrect this model. Not sure which way I'm going yet, tricolour, rat bike or maybe another custom job.
I actually quite like how it looks with the covers off and dusty it kind of looks naturally neglected

Amazing, I was looking at buying one of these a while ago, but my wife knows you can get a running full size motorbike for the same amount (not a ducati, unless you are really lucky)
Did you add any details to the exhaust system? I was thinking the welds looked pretty realistic.

Yes added loads of extra detail, for the money it’s a pretty basic kit

these bikes are a work of art, to allow it to get into the state it is in deserves a hand slap. Never mind, it will not take long to get it pristine again. I could never have afforded  Ducati, the desmos were just coming in when I stopped riding. I cannot help comparing the simplicty of a vertical twin to the modern bike of today. nemesis

Probably a similar size is this single cylinder sidevalve. Its pretty simple. Quick for a generator. Lol. Not exactly as nice looking as the Ducati.
I look forward to seeing this project, whatever direction you take it. Cafe racer?

More dismantling.
I think I'm leaning to stripped street racer.

More rebuilding of the engine (I really think I'm getting the hang of making plastic look like metal) I already like the look of the whole thing over the look of the original engine, I thought I had slightly over weathered the first build so I'm cutting back a bit on that

Next update (I wish I'd kept the instructions) I'm quite pleased with how it's going so far.

Judging by the hooky sprocket, this has been run for a lot of miles. I am in awe with the detail of the mouldings, lovely. nemesis

Hi all started the first bit of surgery on the Ducati (no going back now)

I just hope the new paint job works.
I put a 1/9 bike in front of this behemoth to show how big it is.

I'm aiming for a subtle shade paint job, a sort of echo back to my favourite bike I ever owned (not a Ducati who could afford one) but my beloved honda 750 K4 (I know they didn't do it in the colour I'm depicting but I'm hoping the subtle added shade will work)

Hi all started the paint job, unfortunately it's a bit too subtle (I wanted a slight orange tint to the black paint job so went for alclad clear orange) 6 coats and you can only barely see it (not at all in the photos) so I will have to rethink and try another method.

I remember that as being another fab build of yours Ken and reckon this will be even better as you have several years more practice and perfection of finishing skills under your belt.

Andy's Hobby Headquarters has just done the new version of this. Looks awesome as does this re build.
