Hi Andy,
gloss varnish, then once stuck down and dry varnish again over the top with the hue you want matt, semi, or gloss.
           Regards Howard.

Martin & Andy,
what you have said Martin is right to a point they will help with new decals that your putting on a new finished model one helps the decals slide till you get it on the right spot the other softened it so it will settle in to all the mould lines as if painted /sucked on but all decals transfers need to be put on a gloss surface  other wise you get what's called silvering mostly seen when someone puts them on a matt painted surface, Andy did you buy your plane like that as that's why there coming away you can see in your photos  silvering under them ask the firm who made it if you could have another set gloss varnish the hole plain put the new transfers on and finish in a coating what you like.
                       Regards Howard.

Andy

Are they waterslide decals or the kind that you peel and stick, like the vinyl markings made by Becc?

Oh, and there are sets of the decals for the e-flite Eagle available from a US seller on ebay if that helps at all.

Cheers

Hi, they are waterslide, the crumpled bit has set like that, I may have to dampen it to get it flattened out. I was going to paint in the bits of transfer that are missing but I need to fix the rest down or they will start flaking off. This is a Freewing F15, I can have a check and see if its same size as e-flight one. Not got much funds at moment for buying new transfers but maybe in future.

You could try buying a pack of DIY transfer paper and knock them up yourself on the computer in PowerPoint or the likes. You just need a printer and a can of lacquer, but getting any waterslide transfer to stick to Matt finish is a bit iffy.  They need gloss or satin then really a coat of clear lacquer on top. I use decalfix on ready made transfers and it really does work! But the same is still pretty much true otherwise they'll peel over time.  You can always just lacquer the bits the transfer is on.

(I say lacquer, but polyurethane / enamel / acrylic clear etc.)

Its a matt finish so they dont have much chance, I think the glue is poor too. I remoistened some of them but they still lose bits to the airstream.

Hi Andy,
if there waterslides decals on what looks like a very bed surface you'll never get them to stick in your photo's I can see lots of silvering under them see if you can soak them off with warm water and fairy put them on some wax type paper then spray the plain in a gloss finish be careful as am not sure what the plains made of a water based one might be safer I often use Johnsons  floor polish  its Acrylic once dry its very hard I would use more to fix them back on once on you could use decal sol it will soften the transfer letting it take up the shape and  sink into the folds of any panel lines it lays over when every thing is dry (leave for a few day paint ,spray in the finish you want Matt, semi or gloss, is the plane made of foam if so am not sure about Lacquer RST may know more about that then me.

Its plain old polystyrene foam. I should have waited a few years till epp came out. I always worry about crashing it and ending up with just a snowstorm. 😁

99% of the spray style clear coats will eat that foam alive... it is the propellant that will dissolve the foam, not the paint.

my guess would be to see if you can't adhere the decals with a simple white glue, and then find some sort of clear acrylic varnish that can be brushed on, to seal the decals under a thick layer of "paint".

I may try pva on the back of one to see how it goes. The crumpled one will probably need moistened up to flatten it out. Its not a huge deal if some flake off, but the plane is pretty much pristine apart from some flaking transfers. Having flown planes for many years, I know the difference between pristine and totally destroyed can be a blink of an eye. 😁
