I also have 2 unfinished Sdkfz 9 Famo halftracks in the works, they were/are to be part of a diorama I was hoping to make but went onto different projects.
If I ever win the lottery, I would buy a full size Famo for going to the shops/camping/boating/flying... In fact anything involving driving it about. They are pretty huge, dont think anyone would pull out in front of a Famo! Lol

I love the FAMO as well Andy! The thought of a soft skin having a PanzerIII/IV engine in eh?

There aren't that many left, and apart from one that runs, the rest are in various states of dereliction, so find a good restorer and write those blank cheques! I would go for a DEMAG as they are easier to park  :embarrassed:

Lovely model by the way.

Many thanks, I was wondering if you had a look at my Dads paintings and carving on the Bob Ross topic?

Fantastic detail  8) .  I think I built the Airfix one as a child and probably set fire to it at some point  {-)

I built a couple of Airfix Sdkfz7s when I was young as well. I bought another 2 a couple of years ago and my daughter built one, with a bit of help as it was her first kit. I just like the shape of them.
I will dig out my part finished Famos and stick a couple of photos on. I have a fair collection of 1/35 models. My painting isnt the best, I like desert colour scheme. I repainted my grey Rc Tiger in desert colour too.

I think I replaced the forward gun on my corvette with the airfix 88 as the breach looked better, I know the band stand rear anti aircraft gun is a single Bofors from an airfix kit with crew

the germans csotured 4 flower class in port when france fell. they were under cinstruction. refered to as PA 1 to PA 4, there are only 4 known pics of them. No one knows the exact armaments carried either as they were used as flak ships. they were top heavy as well!
So theres a bit of artistic licence to be had here

I found out that many of the PT boats had differing armaments as the crews fitted different weapons to standard, I would imagine that happened a lot over different ships/boats.
My 1/35th 88mm crew is awaiting painting, you even get a motorcycle with the kit. A nice little build by itself.
I was considering the revell corvette for an rc conversion but there looked like too many breakable bits for transporting on my e-bike.

All Navy ships had a "Scrounger". His job was ro rob the lay apart stores for vessels under repair or refit. The "scrounged" stores or weapons were fitted when the vessel left port.
So in reality the "As Fitted" drawings were only a rough guide.
