It's so odd now thinking about Saturday mornings.  Children's Favourites with "Billygoat Gruff and Tubby the Tuba", or a film at the local cinema. Or maybe, if you were dead lucky and a bit older (11), an Airfix Sopwith Camel! {:-{ (I suppose this could be a wistful emojie)

Dan Dare at 6.45 p.m. on Radio Luxemburg

Mind you, since my Dad was a Radio and T.V. repairer we had a telly that he was repairing from early on.   Usually out of it's case.

Hi all, I was a keen Saturday morning pictures lad.  Then someone told me that Dick Barton was on the radio on Saturday mornings.  I stayed back to listen and was most disappointed to find I had heard it all before!  I was yet to learn what 'Omnibus edition' meant!

Hi, I loved the Goon Show, back in the late 60's I used to live opposite the BBC Producer John Browel, nice chap wicked sense of humour although he also did Sing something Simple as well on Sundays.

I frequent Woy Woy in Oz and lately joned the library there.  They have a room dedicated to Spike Milligan, who was a resident there.  You can sit and watch many of his videos, one is a tour of 'unspoilt' Woy Woy and then it continues to show you 'spoilt' Woy Woy!

He used to live on Orchard Drive, now a very expensive address!  He refers to Woy Woy as 'Australia's above ground cemetry'.

In my teens my mum and I used to get tickets to watch radio shows being recorded I particularly remember The Navy Lark, and once on passing John Pertwee in the corridor I had not realised how tall he was.  Ronnie Barker was in that as well.  My mom and I shared the same sense of humour, I am afraid this was somewhat lost on my dad.
regards
Roy

Does anyone else remember Dick Barton -Special Agent   ?   Best thing on radio that far back.. Always used to wait for it and fire up the cats whisker.

I remember Much Binding very well they always had a topically worded song at the end.  They were both ex RAF, a service of extremes, near death one day and drunk as a skunk afterwards.  There was a fine line to be drawn between doing your bit and avoiding an early appointment upstairs.
But after Dick Barton, on radio, it was followed by a circus thing called The Daring Dexters.  After that The Archers, I gave up on that after they killed off Grace Fairbrother in a fire trying to save the horses!

For some reason another programme I used to liked popped into my head it was "Monday Night at Eight".  I used to creep out of bed and sit on the stairs while my parents listened to it.  At the end they had a detective serial Dr. Morelle.

There was also a comedy sketch called The Dooms.  I have never forgotten the catch phrase at the end where Drusilla is pouring tea and says in a very deep voice and very slowly, "Tea Edmund.......Milluck"?

Anyone remember that?

From this thread it is apparent that although you do not have to be an octogenarian to take up boat modelling you will probably end up as one.

"Have a Go Joe" with Wilfred Pickles and Mabel at the table.... "Give 'em the money Mabel !!" Pickles would say after the contestants had been lucky enough to win the princely sum of 10 bob or a couple of Quid

Listen with Mother - "Are you sitting comfortably ?". I remember being sat in front of the 'Radiogram' back in the 1960s.

While I listened to this quietly on the sofa my Mum would always have forty winks before preparing an evening meal ready for the rest of the family coming home

Well, as I have been cited by Joe as the reason for this thread starting, I'd better chime in with some of my earliest radio memories -

Eating Sunday roast around the kitchen table with Two (or sometimes Three) Way Family Favourites playing in the background

Round the Horne and Beyond Our Ken

The Navy Lark - "left hand down a bit!"

Mum listening to Mrs Dale's Diary (thanks for the reminder Colin)

And a little later - I'm Sorry I'll read That Again.  Priceless.

And a lot more that others here have jogged my memory about.  Ahh, radio!
