Hi All,
Whilst I am busy drafting up plans for a cruiser, I got to thinking there does not appear to be much in MBM of Half Hull Model making and wondered why, since of course the model half hulls play such an important history of way back as a forerunner before the lines plans knocked out on PCs etc.
I've always had a soft spot for half models of the appropriate detail, and presently am well underway with one I am working on, of which, if people are interested, I will happily snap some pics of her thus far. The half model in question is of a classic early 1930s Norfolk Broads River Cruiser Class, four berth cabin yacht, namely "Lullaby" which featured in a BBC drama series "The Coot Club", and "Big Six", taken from the famous author Arthur Ransomes novels, "Lullaby", featured as "Teasel" in the series. She is still in regular hire today from her Base in Ludham Norfolk, the "Hunters Yard".
I have pondered on constructing a working model of her, with the lines plans I have, however, having built similar before, owing to their shallow draft keels, the models really need to be a large 1:8 scale, pushing 1200mm L.O.A. which makes them one big lady to transport about.
Back to the half Hull Models, if there are any budding half Hull Model builders out there, I would love to see your works.
Cheers as ever to you all
Paul
