Thanks for your detailed reply.

Great idea using a step down converter to regulate the voltage to the various accessories and the zener diode to more precisely regulate the voltage to the radar motor.

You attention to detail with the electrics should make for a flawless model.

Hello,

next issue is finishing the mast.
At first the wires for the bulbs needed to be fiddled into the mast (was easier than thought of):

The housing for lights were taped and then glued to the holder.
The wires were fixed underneath the holders:

After spray painting (primer and top coat) the mast is ready for assemby to the wheel house:

Last details were mounted to the wheel house (position- and search-lights, horns, safety equipment):

Once the mast ist set to the wheel house wiring will start.

Hello,

Yesterday the mast was mounted and fixed:

All lights were wired and tested:

The search light came out strong enough to act as such:

So far the installed illumination:
two working lights at the crane
navi lights (stb, port, top und rear)
three signal lights
one search light

The working deck in the rear has not enough illumination; two working lights will added.

Hi Hans,

Your build is looking great - the lights really help to bring it to life

Do all of your lights use incandescent "grain of wheat" bulbs or have you used LED's in any of them?

Also are they all powered by one switched supply or are some switched individually?

Stb, port, and search light are LED, the other are lightbulbs,

Three "groups" to switch:
a) Search light
b) Navigation lights
c) Signal- and working lights

The ropes are a nice touch - did you dye them?

By the way, I was wondering how the wheelhouse is attached to the deck - is it just a push fit over the raised coaming around the main access hatch?

Hi Pauli,

the ropes were just brushed with paint.

The wheel-house fits very good (tight fit) to the coaming and does not need any additional holders.

Hello,

in this week the wooden working deck was finished.
it consists of four sections cut out from a Boatdeck-panel sold by KRICK:

In the next step the deck was drained with special paint for wodden boats and after a few days of drying ist was ground.:

next step was weathering with some suitable colors and sealling with a coat of flat clear:

The overview looks like this:

Also finished is the transport/storage box for the model:

Next is the first real test in the water > waiting for some hours with decent sunlight somewhat higher temperatures.

Do you intend to mount the Romarin / Krick buoys on the deck or are you going to use different buoys or perhaps you have another use for the crane mechanism?

That will look really good if you are able to source a suitable model sub / bathyscaphe.

I have just ordered a Paula 3 myself with the special functions kit and buoy set and will probably commence building it after the Christmas holidays.

It would be nice to see a video of your model on the water once it is fully completed.
