Am I alone in detesting anything that tells me I should buy stuff "because you're worth it"? I guess Andee MacDowell gets up my nose because she so obviously loves herself (despite the fact she can't spell); she's crushingly American, and she reminds me very much of Wife #1.
The Cillit Bang adverts are so bad they're brilliant, but I agree that the stunted little goblin who shouts about double glazing ought to be locked away with only Graham Norton videos for company..........and don't get me started on sofa ads ("was it DFS, SCS or SFA?")!

Well, that's two of us. I have a friend in advertising, he did sofa ads. He told me that they always hired the shortest & smallest actors they could find, because it made the furniture look bigger.

My 'smash their face in' ads were a series for some kind of jug water softener, a hatefully smug couple trying and failing to make soft water sexy. My favourite was one for Audi cars a few years ago, it had huge car-sized fish swimming along roads with the traffic, and because they drank like fishes, having to fill up with fuel all the time. I owned the car they were advertising, and it wasn't specially economical at all unless you drove like an old lady, but the ad was a masterpiece. Also, remember those ads for the Golf GTi, woman throwing her fur coat in the bin but hanging onto the car keys? Again, I've owned about six of them, Golf GTis that is not fur coats, so I'm slightly biased.

What about the Safestyle ad. You know the one, you buy one, you get free.

I SAID, YOU BUY ONE, YOU ONE FREE.  >:( >:( >:(

I don't dislike the Gorilla and I do like Phil Collins and Gensis - I just don't get the advert.  ???

Speaking of supposedly clever adverts does anyone remember what the adverts with Leonard Rossiter and Jackie Collins were for?

Well well, it's come to a pretty pass hasn't it! The telly has turned into such a pile of 5hyte that we are now beginning to watch the ruddy adverts.... and enjoy them! :P
Try typing in 'cillit bang' in you- tube, there's a teriffic re-mix in there and it also comes with an E-Sure re-mix starring Michael Winner. O0. Both are a real hoot!

It was cinzano, but it was Joan Collins not Jackie who starred in them and it is a sad state of affairs when you prefer to watch the adverts than the programs that interupt them!!! ;D

Hung by my own petard  :(

It was Cinzano but most people think it was Martini. Clever advert but completely missed its market.

It was Joan Collins, Jackie was on the radio yesterday - sub conscious at work - well something has to. ;D

Cheers

I think the 'Deep Purple' gorilla remix is better than the original (but I AM an old rocker)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVpg7nWXk8Q

My hate is the utterly pointless "50% off sales" usually for furniture or kitchens - don't they realise we KNOW that there will be the same (or better - 55% off) sale when this one finishes!

Oh yes - and the small Japanese boy who can't stand the smell of his own poo >:( >:(

Sorry about the previous post.  I must have a 'double clicking' index finger!

Anyway, how about the latest Post office ads that want you to put money into a service that won't exist before long!

It is,nt just TV adverts that get up noses. Plodding along in the "workshop" listening to Classic FM and being constantly assailed by some blithering idiot trying to sell me at least 6 new "sofas" a year. Are they so bad that they only last for a couple of months?

The time to worry lads, is when we get adverts flashing every 15 minutes on the Forum - can you imagine

Martin dressed as Captain Birds Eye, doing a 30 second fish finger advert on the Forum.....

or Colin Bishop doing an advert for Admiral Car insurance.   {-) {-) {-)

aye
that's got all our minds working

Please, as a simple Geordie, could someone translate this for me? I only understood the words "tickles", "free" and "price".

You ARE joking Bryan  ;)
"Buy on - get one free" - therefore they must be twice the price they should be in the first place!

I hate to think how some people would have survived in many of the crewrooms I have frequented over the past 40 years. Lots of tears before bedtime.

I'll just carry on practicing walking on eggshells.  8)

Cheers to ALL
