Model Boat Bits?
« on: March 14, 2022, 02:08:49 pm »

Just had an email from Woodbridge MBC chairman saying that MBB are closing. Has anyone else heard this? If it is the case, then it's very sad news. They're one of those suppliers who would always try to go the extra mile for us!

PLEASE NOT MORE RUMOURS this is not at all correct....Stav has actually phoned Steve personally to find out the actual truth, this is what has been said to Stav by Steve.

Steve has said he is NOT RETIRING AND CLOSING well not in the distant future as he Loves what he does...He has been given a very hard time by some buyers on Ebay who seem to think that modle boat parts are far far more important than The health of not only him but his wife as well....Steve freely admits that some of the orders have been late in going out due to circumstances beyond his control.....another thing out of his control is the post office in being slow with their deliveries and actually also loosing packets.

His wife had to have an emergency spinal operation and in fact if she had not had it would have become paralised.so if that on it's own is not as important as modle boat bits then it beggars belief....Steves own words.

Please Lads and lasses STOP this Malicious rumour is is NOT TRUE.

I Peronally sympathise with Steve as Stav had to have a similar operation 18mnths ago otherwise he would have ended up in a wheelchair himself it was that serious, and we all know he can be a grumpy "xxxxx" just imagine how he wouold have been in a wheelchair, even now he can not walk very far at all, thats why he was seen at the Blackpool show last year on a mobility scooter....thats how he gets around.

Just remeber folks Life is precious and Model boats is a Hobby and NOT a Matter of life and death....lets ALL be patient at the Moment with Steve he is under a LOT of Strain not only looking after his infirm Mother in Law but also tending to his Wife.

tonyH can you PLEASE let your chairman know that ALL the emails he has sent out simply has to be corrected due to the seriousness of this due to rumours like this can easily put traders out of business and lets face it we are losing Model shops like it is going out of fashion let alone the numbers of traders attending shows is fast diminising...Thanks

Dear Kelly,
As requested, I've posted a strongly worded e-mail back to Dave at WMBC requesting that clarification be sent to all members. I was aware of Steve's personal matters from an earlier thread and would ask that you pass my sincere apologies to him and his family for any upset this has caused.

I have ordered items from Model Boat Bits in the past and been delighted both with the quality of the parts and the excellent customer service.

Wishing the owner's wife a speedy recovery from her operation and continued success with their business.

Kind regards,

Pauli

Glad to see that the rumours of MBB's demise are not true. I been a customer for several years, only once had a problem with an order - it was damaged/missing items due to some excessively rough handling in the post. The parts were swiftly replaced by Steve at no cost.

Anyone who puts business (especially a hobby-based business) before family has some strange values, in my opinion. Steve has his priorities absolutely right.

I have recently ordered some bits and pieces from MMB, (as I have in the past).

I have a laptop running a Windows 10 plain vanilla setup, and accessed the website with no problems using the link in the Traders Section. All working fine, website easy to use.

Order took a little longer than usual to turn up, but don't forget that there have been a number of one and two day strikes by the posties. Order turned up with all the stuff, excellent quality, well packaged, with paperwork.

All good!

Works fine on Android tablet. It is odd how this comes about.
I have trouble with Component Shop on my Tablet.

Hi,

If it helps modelboatbits with any kind of a bug on the site, here is what I get on my Oneplus and Samsung phone, plus my relatively new 7in tablet I can't remember the name of.  It's been like this for as long as I can remember -fine on widows laptops(s) though!

PS:  This is by following the link on google, not manually typing an address...
