Vintage AMPS SX100 Tunnel hull
« on: September 04, 2022, 11:35:31 am »

Gents,

I’ve been looking for a different project, so thought about going back to my early days1980s-90s when I was in to IC power boats.

Back then I had two AMPS SX100 hulls made for me, which were made lighter as I was trying for the British speed record. In the last month I pulled one of the Tunnels from storage and stripped all the old radio, engine  etc, and converted it to brushless using TFL geared O/B. The video is of her second setup run, but as the pond level is so low I’ve only been able to get about 50% throttle.

Looks good on the water and goes well even if only using half throttle.

Thanks Chris,

We lost about 40% of our water, my plan is too park her until the end of Oct when my model show commitments have been completed. After which I’m hopping that we will have had good load of rain.

Dave,
At 40% throttle the bow does look a bit "light" to me. She might lift.

Hi Bob,

Good to hear from you, hope your well ? What’s the water level like at your pound ? Might see you at Bovington or D Day shows 👍

As with tunnel hulls it is a lot of small adjustments before you get them to run well, but I’m please with the setup so far as yesterday was windy, I’m thinking once I can get up to full speed she will run slight flatter.

Anyhow, it's soo happy and nervous when operating fast boats like yours any time.!!
I do like to operate a fast boat on the water as she normally gets me so nervous whenever I sail her, which atmosphere
might generate a sort of happy time of operation of the fast boat.  %% O0 :D :-))
