Hi Jenks,When I bought my  graupner smoker 6v I was told the volume of smoke was a bit puny
compared with the  12v system so I have fitted 2 x 6v smokers side by side venting up the same
funnel - I also found the they tended to blow smoke rings - very unrealistic. As I wanted to vent some
heat from the motors/esc I fitted into the base of the funnel a 12v 0.15amp computer fan working
on 6v.  The model is nowhere near launching but the system has been checked and I think it works
a treat. It would have been easier to have had a 12v system thoughout the boat however.
Hope that helps

You might consider one of these http://www.action-electronics.co.uk/pdfs/P68S.pdf. Fit the fan directly underneath a 12v Super Smoke Generator http://www.action-electronics.co.uk/pdfs/SMOKERS.pdf.
The 6v mini unit is produced for small model locos - hence the puff-puff action - and suits only small model boats eg the Slipway Puffer and Drifter.
Suit yourself.

Thanks for the suggestions, unfortunately I already purchased the batteries at 6v a few years ago  :(( . Adding a smoke unit  was not a consideration at that point, it has only come about now that I have time to build it. Sorry for my poor linking in the first post the model I am working on is http://www.deansmarine.co.uk/shop/product_info.php/cPath/10_11/products_id/177 and the unit I am looking at is http://www.howesmodels.co.uk/RadioControl/viewProduct.php?ProdID=1219 . i think the options are buy new batteries or no smoke unit, any other suggestions welcome.

I use the "foggy"unit that is similar to the garden water feature smoke. The down side is it needs 24V to operate. I use 2 x 3s1000 lipos. Bill

Not at all sure that the unit in the Graupner paddler would fit into a Deans Bulldog without sinking it, and the original question was about a Deans HMS Bulldog.  The Glasgow is quite a large boat, as opposed to HMS Bulldog, which isn't.
If the batteries have been lying around a few years, they might not be fit for use anyway, so a rethink centring on 12 volts might be a good idea, although it might give rise to its own set of problems about the ESC(s) and motor(s)

The Glasgow looks great! Thanks for the pictures.

The Batteries appear to work well at the moment although I have not used them for a long test as I am still in the building stage. I got the old paddling pool out of the loft  :-) . As for the esc and the motors thats another bit of fun, i went with what the instructions said and modified some servos as the motors and esc . I am unsure if this is a good idea but the mounts are fixed firmly and it works. I think I may leave a steam unit until another build, as I have sent lots of money already.

Thanks for the advice everyone.
