Common grounds for different voltage sources?
« on: October 14, 2022, 10:51:33 pm »

My grey cells are failing me...My next project requires 24 volt supply to the ESC's and motors, while the house voltage will be 12 volts and less. In the case of the "less", buck converters will drop the 12V to 6V and 3V as required. The radio system runs on standard 5-6volts.
My question pertains primarily to the motor/radio circuits, which will be 24 and 12 volt respectively. Because the ESC's supply 24V to the motors, but the electronics run on 12V(actually 5V from a 12V source), is it adviseable, or for that matter necessary, to "common" all the voltage grounds together? or will that open a whole new potential can of worms?Thank you in advance.Jonathan
