Hi Ian,

That would have been nice to see, if you had made it where would you have sailed it?

Made two of the four drain plugs, these will allow me to drain any water from sponson or inner hull if the model flips at any time.

These were made by poring resin in to some plastic pipe, then pushing the resin out once it hardened and then using some 1.5 mm plastic card to punch out the flange. The bolt heads were cut from 1.5mm hex.

Getting on today Ive cut both hull sides out and bevelled the edges, this so they fit nicely to the hull sides. Also I have started to cover the sponson.

Some good progress over the last few days,

I’ve completed the bottom half of the hull sheeting and applied the first coating of resin to seal it. This coat will be sand down and once I’m happy with it, I’ll apply the second and May be a third coating. When this has been done I can start to cover the top half of the hull. My plan for this is to use 1/32 (0.8) thick Birch ply.

I’ve also made from balsa block the nose of the hull, this will be sanded to the final shape once the hull has been fully covered.

Thanks Ray,

Now comes the part I’m not looking forward too, that is doing the top hull covering, as the shape has so many curves. So may require a bit of steam bending. :(( :((

Well bit the bullet and started on the decks. So I used some card to cut the template, I made it 5mm larger so this will give me some green and help with final fitting to the hull.

Hiya Dave, your build is coming along nicely now and really like the way you've secured the servo and the motor :-)

Like the motor mount attachment - I have a mount like that but hadn’t thought to screw it into some wooden battens like that. Nice work. :-))

Progress photos, hope you like.

Starting prime the hull using a flexible filler primer ready for top coating later this month. The hull has had two coats of polymer resin and 8 of external gloss vanish, in between each coat I’ve use finer and finer wet and dry to get a good finish.

Good morning Dave, you're progressing nicely now  O0

Just in case you haven't noticed already, the port and stbd fillets (underside) supporting the outer skins will need touching in with the primer.

... assuming it's not a trick of the light  :embarrassed:

Thanks Ray, :-))  it’s only just had the first light coating and had only just came out of the warm spray booth that I’d setup in my building workshop.

Few more coats and sanding required
