Vintage outboard cruiser
« on: January 20, 2023, 10:46:36 pm »

Picked up this static model of a ‘50s vintage cruiser. Thought I could probably convert to RC using a scale outboard motor I had for years. If conversion proved infeasible the boat would at least be an attractive way to display my vintage outboard. To my surprise, the motor ran just fine when I tested it.

That is a great harmony, and it looks really authentic, nice match  :-))

Thank you. There are always tensions between maintaining the boat’s original appearance & updating it for a more modern purpose. Attached photos show how the cockpit sole had to be cut out to  get some flowable epoxy in the bilges to waterproof the hull & provide room for RC gear.

Advance apologies for the fuzzy photos. I’ll try to find better ones. Also don’t know why the images turn out so small.
