I have BBC I player via a VPN over here is it safe to use ?

I have heard that some South American countries told FIFA they would not allow ppv, as football belongs to the people. As such, international games are shown on national TV and can be accessed by using a vpn and selecting a server in the appropriate country. The commentary will not be in English btw.
Sorry I can't remember which countries, I don't watch soccer.
