Introduction & Poll
« on: March 27, 2023, 07:30:05 pm »

Hi Guys & Girls,
My name is Rich, I'm a happily married 45 year old with a 4 year old son that is starting to take interest in my model making. We live in Peterborough. My wife likes to build the models with me.
I used to own and run full sized trawlers for 10 years before having to give it up for medical reasons, there isn't a day that goes by whereby I don't think about being back at sea and all the joy's that it brings!! I bought the 'Jeanett' as it is actually very very close to my last Trawler that I had and when I do it I actually intend to make is as true as possible to my 'Second Home'.

I have building models for many years, 20+, as far as I can remember. I used to build Scale RC Boats
I went to sea and find that now i've got more and more time on my hands that I really want to get back into it again, the 'bug' never leaves you far!
So this last week, I've bought the four kits in the poll above, as I have an interest in all of them as individual subjects, I've also bought all the radio gear and running gear for them at the same time.
The trouble I have, is that I just can't decide which one to do first?
I am an absolute stickler for true and hyper detailing everything I get my hands on, so whatever I do, tahst the way it'll be built.
I 'may' need some help with running gear and electrics help as so much has changed since I was last into it, so please bare with the stupid questions on that if I need to ask any.
I would also like to, with whatever I build, to a full build log, is that allowed and/or encouraged on here?
Well, thats me in a nutshell, thanks for reading my 'drivell' and look forward to becoming more involved soon.
Cheers

There are lots of build logs on here, they are most welcomed. Other members will follow your logs and will often chime in with encouragement and advice, especially if you ask.
Also have a look through some of the other build logs, especially the 'Masterclass' builds, that are very informative.

Welcome to the forum.

You've only named one model the Jeanett. What other kits have you bought?  OOps didn't see the poll above. Finishing on April fool's day I see. I would say go with the one you like most. Getting back in to modelling is like riding a bike a skill not forgotten.

By the way welcome to the forum.

Doh !,
Martin, that's the wrong picture for MV Tradition Trawler.  {:-{
You've shown Eastern Sea Fisheries Surveyor - 'ESF Surveyor'.

Go to back of the class !

I would start with the easiest and work up to the hardest, the easiest will hone your skills back to fore and the hardest will frustrate you and make you wonder why you started with that one

Why don't you come and visit the Mayhem event this year, many models to look at, and many peeps to have a chat with who will be more than happy to share the knowledge and experience.
