Bent Evergreen Polystyrene Sheet
« on: May 29, 2023, 06:28:32 pm »

I recently brought some Evergreen Clear Polystyrene Sheet number 9007, when it came the sheets are like a banana. The envelope they came in had a cardboard backing so its not due to Royal Mail.

Does anyone know a good way to straighten this without damaging it, I have considered using my heat gun but not sure if this would just melt the sheet.

Thanks

How big is the sheet?
If it will fit, put it on a baking sheet and put it in a hot oven. The sheet should fall flat in a minute or two. Then let it cool at room temp.
If it is too big, then think about cutting it down to smaller pieces that you can work with later. Or find someone with a pizza oven.
I am not sure what the optimal or maxs safe temperature is, it will be online.

A gentler way is to use the wee wife,s iron, more control. warm iron, sheet of cardboard and a nice flat surface. put the board between the plastic and the iron. Take your time as you can always give it more instead of boosting the heat. I have just had to do this with some warped window frames, nemesis

Thanks guys for the advice
I think I will use the iron idea rather than putting something in the oven, with the possibility of melting said item onto swmbo's baking tray.
