aluminium masts
« on: November 23, 2007, 11:51:59 am »

Does anyone have any experience of painting masts made from aluminium tubing to look as if they are made from wood? What type of paint would be suitable for such a job, and would the tubing have to be treated with anything first? Any advice on this matter would be gratefully  appreciated. Ray

I don't have the answer but the answer to the following may be important.

How is the sail attached. Because if you have metal rings it will make a big difference.

What an odd question! I thought that I was the only one in the world to have had this problem! Solved! That stuff you paint a fence with (remember the dreadful advert "does what it says on the tin"?), well that works. Leave to dry and put on a second coat and it is pretty realistic. Cheers. BY.
