Looking good Wallace. Don't forget to paint the guns black. Being made of iron, guns would rust very quickly so we're kept painted, unless they were made of brass which was very rare indeed.

Thanks Footski good advice I haven't made up my mind on the cannons as yet, my other half wants them staying as brassard thanks again for your great comment, :-)) :-)) :-))

By the time of HMS Victory only the smallest guns would be brass as they were much more expensive to make due to the cost of the raw materials. Many of these brass guns will in fact have been old ones kept in use for the smallest ships and gunboats.

More on the making of the cannon hatch's been alot of work cutting out and making but very enjoyable loving every minute I spend with my lovely Lady of the sea :-)) :-)) :-))

I'm assuming that the last photos are supposed to be the davits. If so the 4 holes at the end should be 2 slots with a pully sheave in each. As the sheaves are probably not provided then an improvement would be to shape the wood between the holes to look as if there is a pully there. Also the square corners of the holes will make the lines look wrong when rigged as lines go round curves not sharp corners. Other than this doing good work there.

The last photos were about the building of the cannon's hatches which took me a few weeks to do won't be fixate the ships side until much later. :-)) :-))

The hatch's ,covers will not be fitted onto the ships side until later, :-))

more on the flag two aft flag lockers enjoyable to make up and fitting then full painted  not fixed down in place just yet, the deck needs to be re varnish etc. :-)) :-)) :-))

Thanks Footski happy with what I have done made alot of mistakes along the way but put them right, really enjoying building with wood for the first time and always look forward to the next day and the next little bit to build. :-)) :-))
