Broomfield Park - North London.
« on: March 02, 2024, 07:59:33 pm »

Broomfield Park in Palmers Green North London is my nearest model boat pond, but unfortunately the pond has been empty for the last three years. I thought perhaps that it had gone for good, but a local volunteer group, The Friends of Broomfield Park, in conjunction with the local council, LB of Enfield, are bringing it back into commission, with the work on the concrete base and pump being carried out by the council's contractors, (see below for the screenshot from the council website).

The latest news is that the new pipework and pump are being installed and after testing and commissioning the pond was scheduled to be refilled by end Feb. / early March. With the weather being like it is I generally spend January / February in semi-hibernation, but once we finally see the sun again I'll get along there to have a look, (I live about 20 minutes away). the only slightly bad news is that it is now within the ULEZ zone!

Cheers,

Mike

It’s actually full at present owing to the high level of rainfall experienced over winter.

It is due to be drained soon once the new pump is commissioned, and then refilled.
