Nottingham J Class questions
« on: April 23, 2024, 04:41:32 pm »

Hi everyone,
I have a Nottingham J Class which I have owned for 7 days and a complete novice at this. I have a couple of questions if that's OK.
She looked lovely in the photos and only when I got her home (after 5 hours in the car) I noticed the deck was not on correctly and a few millimetres out, the mast tube is also around 2 / 3 millimetres out.
As the deck is etched with Lines you can definitely see there's more on the starboard side than the port.
The deck is definitely glued solid and I know it probably will not come off, could I place another deck on top and then make slight adjustments to make it sit square and straight?
When I collected her I was given a brand new mast and sails, the mast has a plastic cap and won't fit down the mast tube. It also looks like the tube is larger that the mast, is there something I need to get so it will fit?
I am looking forward to working on her and hopefully get her in the water very soon.
Many thanks for reading my post.

Sorry for the delay posting the photos.
.
I believe the mast is from PJ Sails and is Rig 3. Sorry about the dust  :-)
.
The deck has been varnished and it looks quite thick. Not sure where I go from here and any help would be appreciated.
.
Many thanks
