Naval Guns 1850s~1870s and other Ship Model Parts
« on: May 06, 2024, 11:38:39 pm »

My 1:36 scale Constellation (1856), Macedonian (1812), and 1:20 scale Pride of Baltimore (1981) all carried cannons, which I have 3D modeled and printed.
(the figures are not mine, but are from Artejaol Studios, and shown for scale only)

Someone needed guns for a 1:96 scale model of the Harriett Lane:

Which led me to model and print one of each type of gun Constellation ever carried from 1855 to 2024, in the same 1:36 scale as my model of the ship.

A request for a Confederate Brooke gun led to two version of it

Which got me modeling, basically any naval gun I could get decent information on, from the 1850's through the 1870's:

Including a request for a model of the 110# Armstrong BLR gun, for which a slide/carriage is currently in progress.

I modeled a few other parts for my own use...

The STL files for all these models are, or will be, posted on Thingiverse at no charge for you to print yourself, usually with advice on re-scaling them in your slicer to whatever scale you need.
I still haven't managed to get me, or the software I use, to make carving types of items; like head-carvings or figures; but more geometric things, like those shown above aren't too big a deal.

If you need a part or a gun for a model, can provide sufficient data to model it (plans, photos, etc), you're not in a hurry, and it's within my, and my software's abilities to make, let me know and we'll see what can be done.

Note; I'm won't do anything prior to the 1840's or later than the 1870's because I want to stay where there's fewer people already making things and within my capabilities as a 3D modeler.

Hi I am the one that Jerry made the 3d Brook guns for. I have just received the guns and I have to say what a 1st class job he has made of them a lot better than a lot of other 3d printing I have seen.
