The world has moved on - quality prints are now widely available. It's not Shapeways fault.
The expectation is that cottage industries will provide printed items at no more than the cost of the resin used to make them, and many "businessmen" feel that is the right way to operate for fear of being undercut by others. They then have to pay for the machine, electricity and the time taken to produce the designs out of their own pocket. I don't feel this makes it a business, but have been shouted down many times when expressing this opinion.
