Unusual places your models are displayed!
« on: July 16, 2024, 04:36:16 pm »

So I will start!  My Caldercraft Northlight Clyde Puffer currently resides in the boardroom trophy cabinet of Greenock Morton FC, a Scottish Championship professional club.  Much of the puffer fleet was based in Greenock hence the connection.

Anyone got a more unusual site?

I built a model of the Graupner kit Bremen 9 which was a build review in the Marine Modelling International magazine also featured on the front cover squirting water.  It ended up in the Traplet boardroom, but no idea where it might be now.
No digital pictures I am afraid as I used good old film!
I decided not to keep it as the s/s is rather delicate and I could only afford one set of batteries!
Here is a model ex-Internet but not the one I made.

This one is in the office of the real Christian Reinauer at the Reinauer's Staten Island depot, NY.
I have its identical twin in a box in the garage, waiting for a suitable cabinet. Even at 1/50 it's quite large: 840mm3 x 760mmH. I'll be lucky to get that one allowed into the house.

I built a reveiw model of the Caldercraft Marrie Felling for John Wright who had bought Caldercraft from Frank Hinchliffe, and Marten Howse and Balliss steam enginers asked if they could mount a "new" 3 cylinder steam engine and plant that they had developed for larger boats, in to it and show at the up coming Earls Court boat show, which I did oblige.

Once back in my hands  after the show, the boat and steam plant, was aquired by the owner of the museum at the Nottingham Papplewick Pumping station and I took it to the museum.

The new owner and owner of the model transport museum there sadly died within a couple of years from a heart attack, and when I approached his widow to see if I could buy it back, as she was selling up told me that it had been shipped off to a new owner and their transport museum somewhere in Florida, USA.  And I presume is now still in the USA somewhere.

Geeez those are some impressive places!

I managed to convince the Warden to let me put my billing’s Bankert in the living room and thought that was a big deal.
