 :-)) :-))   The rear mast  cutting and bending the wire  more to do on the mast happy at the moment.

Just to let you all know the mast photos of the building of the mast is all taken apart I had done it all wrong the manual didn't help, I had a very long look at the photos I have been sent etc so I will be build the mast again,I have gone onto other thing to build i.e the big guns.

Today is Friday 15th Sept 23  here's the latest photo's of the build of the Yamato  I have been very busy over the past few weeks working on the big guns and the small gun alot of work has gone into the building I am getting some of these out of the way still alot to make and build but Im going to move back onto the hull and get it finished and maybe painted, hope you like the photos.

That's the thing with battleships - there are an awful lot of "little bits"!  Coming on nicely though.

Though the hull looks daunting due to the shape of a ship, I think it might be the easiest part of a build as the details can feel endless, and that's before you tackle the boats  %%  Not to put you off though Wallace, she's coming along lovely. I love the almost sci-fi style of the secondary and AA turrets.

Hi to all just to let you know I'm still hard at the building its all the little bits and I'm not rushing  will post new photos very soon on what I have done,I would be nice if I could put a little video of what's getting done but never mind.

No hurry mate, after all, it's a hobby not a job. Enjoy it and don't get all stressed with nonsensical deadlines. I always think that an unfinished model shown at a show helps tell the story of it being built. The paint hides the making.

Welcome to the "Sponge" stage! Those of us who build battleships get to the point where it just absorbs more and more time and detail with no apparent change, then all of a sudden!


There is also an illusory stage when we make short lists and find them 20 long, all done and then we make another list and find another 20 items to do......


Its surprising how much detail a large model can absorb. I'm almost two years into my 1/96 scale Hood. It just takes such a long time to make the parts.

Hi to all just to let you know will start again on the build of the Yamato soon just waiting for the weather to warm up so I can have the garage door open so I can spay the hull, have got the spare part from Japan will do that as well.


Dont forget to pop across to my other build on here its all wood again and its HMS VICTORY which I start while its cold got the heaters on, will post soon, :-)) :-))   wallace

Hi to all my followers of the build of Yamato Just to let you know been down with the flu and it hit me hard done no models for two weeks,
but the good news I started back on the Yamato  I made the part I lost  and happy with it and this w/e have taped the hull and painted the Red  below the water line next job to paint the grey and if im happy will start the build above.Photos will be coming.

Back onto the Yamato the photos are of the hull painted at long last I done around 4 coats and I am pleased with it.also I have placed many parts onto the deck to have look at them,Im also
painting alot of very small parts for the upper deck which is taking its time, have also matt varnish the planking fixed the part that I had lossed . :-)) :-)) :-))

All big Guns done and fitted and now have started fixing all the superstructure in place ,nearly 2 years work on the Battleship  just a few more parts to make :-)) :-))
