Building from scratch
« on: November 24, 2024, 02:49:38 pm »

I have read lots of threads here about building from scratch..

I made a plug then a mould and then got a GRP hull to start is this still classed as from scratch.

After all I still had to  make the bread and butter type hull to form the mould.

Never made it with frames and planks ect.

Yes, it would have been classed as scratchbuilding in years gone by, but the term scratchbuilding' has become pretty much irrelevant these days now that there are few, if any, formal competitions. If you get satisfaction from following the old 'rules' then that is fine, but now, and with advancing age, most modellers focus on getting the boat they want and will use whatever means they are happy with to achieve this.
