Estate sale Spain
« on: February 11, 2025, 11:46:21 am »

Can anyone help with or know of any modelling clubs in  Moraira\Teulada, eulada. Alicante. 30 minutes north of Benidorm, Spain ?

l  have a lot of model boat things which belonged to my late husband. If anyone is interested please email.  Brenda

Can you send some photos of what you want to sell?

There are boats and a lot of the associated things. He built many and won awards. As I have moved everything is packed up so difficult to take photos. I will have time but the flat is being altered and I have renters who need the space!!

A couple of photos would be best as nobody buy anything without pictures these days...
There may be a nearby model club that could help you out....

Thank you, I will try next week when my son comes

I spent many years in Denia which is local to the area and never saw any model boating activity I am afraid to say. It is a coastal area to the Med with a fishing industry and harbour.  Local is  agricultural with orange growing and covered fruit growing > The terrain is hills and valleys and the watercourses are flash rainfall runoffs with  no static water except for some water beds for agricultural purposes . I feel it would be necessary to crate the Models and associated items and ship them  to someone in the UK for disposal.  Do you have anyone this end who could undertake this for you as agent  ?

i'm sure your husband would have taken photos of his finished models, would it be prudent to look through your albums or the computor where most of us keep our shots of models these days. might help rather than digging them all out to photograph

It is a sad reality that the increasing average age of the model boating community means that people are now looking to dispose of their models rather than purchase new ones. This inevitably  has a depressing effect on prices and whether you can sell an unwanted model at all.

It is all rather sad as it implies that some great models will end up in a skip as nobody wants them.

The clubs in that general region are in Murcia, Torrevieja, Valencia and Barcelona. Valencia is probably the easiest but is still 1.5 hours up the motorway.
There is or was a club outside Alicante, but I'm not sure its still running, I'll check and get back to you.
Our club ( Torrevieja) is thriving at the moment thanks to a great president but we have the same problem as everyone else selling models, even the best are difficult to sell. Most people enjoy building them so dont buy other peoples work. The only exception seems to be models that have a strong connection with the local area.
