As martin's spec sheet indicates, you have a bit of a mismatch between your motor and your battery. First is the voltage. Your pack will not allow that motor to turn up and give you the speed you want. second is the battery capacity. While the stall current is 8.5 amps, I would expect t that the running amps to be around 2. With a 1500mah (1.5 amp) battery that does not give you much in the way of capacity, ie, very short run times. Given the size of your boat, you could easily increase your battery pack size. :-)

Hi Akita
Thank you for your reply, the yacht has been fitted with the M500 motor, I chose it for its slow speed, I was given the battery but did not take into account the running time, do you have any suggestions for a new battery

Hi Howie, If Akira's estimate of 2A while running is correct you should get about 45 mins of run time from a good 1500mah battery. If it's had some use before you got it, it may have lost some capacity so say about half an hour. How much 'trouble' do you expect to get in for a single sailing session?

I would suggest using what you have and try it out before you get into trouble so you know what run time you get.

Thanks for replying Dave, I will fit the wiring system in, and then fill the bath and try it out with a fully charged battery and let it run, will let you know the result, it will also be the first time it’s been in the water so will check for leaks and prop shaft seal, rudder seal
