Standing down from club life
« on: July 14, 2025, 09:40:24 am »

It is hard to believe forty years have passed since I joined Kirklees MBC. During this time, I have organized many events  at our sailing water including visiting other clubs and commercial shows.  Many things have changed over these years age and travel costs and of course Covid have all played a big part in the decline to many  commercial shows and footfall at club open days.  I know first-hand the how much  work and stress  planning these things can cause so  with this in mind I would like to take this opportunity to inform all clubs that with immediate effect I will no longer be the planning officer or the contact for Kirklees MBC. I would like to say  a big thank you to all clubs that have supported our open days over the years. I now plan to take a well deserved  break and concentrate on my model building and returning to possible club life in 2027.

  Hi Stan,
That's some dedication over a very long period, I am sure you will be sorely missed. We have been friends for quite a few years and I have always been amazed and impressed with your skills (especially the electrics) when I have seen your models. You have helped me a lot over the years for which I can't thank you enough. I hope that you will now enjoy the freedom of time to build and sail your own models without the stress of planning and organising events. You will always be welcome at the Pond in Southport as I'm sure you know.
            Enjoy the "my" time.
                    Kind Regards,
                           Pete.Farrell
                                Southport MBC. Vice Chairman.

Your last stand was well attended and blessed with excellent weather, wonder if the Gods decided to give you a good send off? Will someone take up the baton and continue the three open events per year? We'll see. As the old farts curl their toes up will the young bloods step up? The word dedication is sadly missing in the times of instant gratification which we now live.
At least Stan you now have no excuses not to complete that piece of 50's example of American excellence kit production?

  Best regards  Ian.
