eBay reveils a long lost secret
« on: July 05, 2025, 12:59:10 pm »

Whilst looking through ebay last night I came across a model lifeboat that I imediately recognised, as it was unmistaceable, being the one and only model made from grp mouldings that had come out of moulds that I had made way back in 2009[I think].

Got chatting to the seller who was a little warry, I can understand as I knew more about it than he believed until he told me that he was selling for an older friend who had bought it and another similar boat some  years before but now too old to lift them.

So I asked him how was the Field Marshal and mrs Smutts....he came back asking did I build them.

Yes, and I put them on mayhem as a build  many years ago.

Its lovely to see them still sailing and in good condition. Makes me proud, but also sad now that I sold them years ago

3 Lifeboat builds, What goes into a model kit.

Where was that photo taken? Looks very much like the boating pond at New Brighton, but there may be others that look similar.

They certainly look good together.
Although I live in Oxfordshire, my wife has relatives in Wallasey, so we get up there at least once a year and I always like to spend a little time at the boating pool.

I agree, very friendly people there. In fact, the whole area around the Mersey estuary is populated by some of the nicest people I have met, you're never a stranger there for long.

i went to university in Liverpool and had the best 3 years of my young life in the finest city in the world........loved the place. and my grand mother lived in wallasey after a life in Nottingham, and loved Wirral and its people.
as you say, the whole area, contrary to what the uninitiated call it, is a wonderful happy and friendly place.
