Also I’ve corrected plans where the shafts aft bearings changed from “A” to “P” as per KITS info.

No, it wasn't me, it was Nige (littoralcombat) who pointed that out.

So I only have to take off the superstructure when I need access for maintenance and battery change. I’ve put the main power and aux power switches at the stern which access is via a removal section of the flight deck.

Electronic being installed.

Plan is to have install LEDs lights in these areas as I build them,  hanger, flight deck, nav, bridge main mast.

Dave, the Glasgow Richmond Model Boat Club used to power their Type 21's with Deccaperm Motors. The racket from the gearboxes used to sound like Gas Turbines.

Detomo,

My setup uses the following Scalewarships components

12 v distribution board for power distribution, this unit I plug in a 11.1 3c lipo battery.
The board has a 5v 3A UBEC (Universal Battery Eliminator Circuit) I use this for powering the 8 ways switch

8 way switching unit
This unit I use to switch no / off , radar,  LEDs  in different areas ie hanger, nav, bridge etc.

LED Bus bars are used to power up multi LEDs for the flight deck. These bus bars are Switched using the 8way unit.

I’ve built a control box which houses a 10 channel receiver two 30amp mtronic ESC and a cooling fan. This control box can be unplugged and transferred to multi of other of my models.

The LEDs are 12v pre wired 0.5 mm purchased from Amazon

Hi Gents bit of an update,

First pic is really for Paul (KingP) and is how I’ve build the first part of the super structure. I know some you may think this is to fragile but as I need to keep the top weight a light as possible, then this what I’ve done. It’s also worth noting I only require to remove the superstructure to change the battery and maintenance. Switch on/ off is done by the flight deck access.

The second pic is the hull ready for black boot line and hull grey, next is to finish off the deck edging and mark fitting locations.

Great progress David, she's displaying those classic Type 21 lines that never seem to get old in my book.
I'm thoroughly enjoying your build log.

Thanks Gents for your lovely comments.

Yesterday and to day I’ve been doing some filler primming and making fittings.

When I was going to college for my marine apprenticeship, I used the fairy that pass Vospers where some of the type 21 were fitting out.
Always loved them and wished to make one, 50 years on I am {-)

Hi Chris,

Funny you say about the hull you had, when I gave up model aircraft in the 70s and move to boats a member in the club I jointed had a hull from the MOD testing facilities. His model inspired me to build the best model I could(still trying). His model was of HMS Antelope, from what I remember the few times he put it on the water, it sailed well, I think he had a external lead kell.

WELL DAVE without a lead keel wheighin in at 8  pounds  it sailed like a drunk pig an i nearly lost her on one occation an my freind has the same hull in 1/64 scale again ex MOD hull an his sailed the same so he still has his 21 an the big hunk of lead on the keel  an his ship is HMS AVENGER cant remeber penant no.

Progress so far. Plan is to start on the bridge section, it’s too damp to paint the hull grey. I need to get some diesel for my heater so I can get my workshop warm to spray the hull.

Very frustrating day to day, started building the bridge section only to find errors in the drawing which resulted in me having to spend hours measuring checking both sheet of the drawing. I’ve now marked up the drawings and corrected areas where the drawing seems to have stretched and distorted. I can only assume that when the drawing was reproduced by the printers for sale they have distorted.

Hi David, well at least you're seeing these anomalies at a reasonably early stage in the build - this whole hobby of ours is one long, continuous challenge aint it !! O0

Cheers,
