Deans Marine MTB488
« on: November 27, 2025, 10:16:38 am »

I have finally finished putting to gether my Deans Marine MTB488.  I bought this off Facebook as an unstarted kit off a lady whose husband had died, it was probably around 20 years old.  I wonder how many unstarted kits are sat in lofts, garages and sheds that will never be built

I bought a complete & unstarted Model Slipway Drumbeat of Devon a couple of weeks ago - also sold by the widow of the original purchaser who found it in the loft.

If I don't get to work on the kits I have in our loft, some of my precious kits are likely to go the same way.

This was my third rescue, first was an old unstarted Revell Flower class corvette off ebay.  Second was another Deans Marine kit, Dimarcha which was probably a similar age to the MTB, again complete in the box.  Having now finished the MTB, I have just bought another unstarted kit, again about 20 years old, this time a Caldercraft Cumbrae.  As well as getting the enjoyment of building all these old kits, you can also save a significant sum.  My total spend on these four kits is less than the current price of the Cumbrae.

Well done.  :-))  I really like the flag locker.
