I am nearing the completion of my Metcalf Bulldog, this follows a Caldercraft Sir Kay, and a Fleetscale Missouri, my wife would like a 'static decorative' boat, I thought maybe a Billings Bluenose as something of a new and different challenge, and very pretty to boot.
For myself I am tempted by the (sorry but Billings again) Slo-mo-shun, all that Mahogany and bright red, but I have read two totally opposing reviews, one that it's a real pain, the other seemed to have no problems (MB Sept 2006)
Anyone built either? - comments please.

Colin,

Hi, I bought the Slo-Mo after reading said article in MB and it now looks pretty good for my level of craftmanship anyway.

Now I might get my fingers burnt here but I don't think the guy who wrote the article built the same Billing kit as I did.

Points about the kit.

(1) The instructions are awful, however you will be able to get round this as two or three people on this site have built the model.

(2) The fit of parts is of a very poor standard and I would suggest that you buy a piece of 1mm ply to remake some of them.

(3) You will also need some other oddments of timber as some of the parts are missing. Not missing as in lost but missing as they just don't come with the kit.

Looking at you previous builds I believe they are by quality manufactures not something that can be said about Billing, though of course the cost of the kit reflects this. If you read through the post's on here I think you will find the general opinion of Billing reflects what I have said above.

Only in the test tank (carp pond) but the omens are good for performance.

It will now be in the New Year before I get back to the pond.

Thanks Stavros Thats the build I was trying to remember. I used it all the time during my build and it saved an awful lot of struggle.

Hi Stavros, followed your lead and got orby 1s build, a really hands on description, loads of photographs, and of course all the Mayhem members input when things got dodgy.
I will order one now, looking forward to to the build.
