HMS Intrepid L11
« on: December 21, 2007, 05:50:40 pm »

It has just been confirmed that HMS Intrepid L11 will be towed to Liverpool for scrapping in Canada Graving Dock. She is due to arrive during March 2008.

HMS Fearless L10 was towed from Portsmouth earlier this week for scrapping in Belgium.

I also heard that that there would be a viewing gallery for the public to observe the proccess, but this has yet to be confirmed.

Seasons greetings to one and all.

Any news as to the date she is due as I know some people who would dearly like to take photos of when she leaves Pompey and when she arrives your end.
It will seem strange in Portsmouth to not see her when she is gone, as over the years she came to be regular sight at her berth or moorings. Also she kept a small army of people employed iun maintaining her when she was in reserve, I believe it was bandied about a possible £90 + million in her first 10 years in reserve. I know in the late 90's she was drydocked and her stern door fell of, resulting in that area of her bottom being renewed because of rot.
