If anyone is interested, this is quite easily translated into english by selecting this link and pasting it into Google search and then when the search completes it should only find 1 site, then next to that site will have [translate this page] just click on this bit and the site will automatically translate into English, Merry Christmas, hope this helps Tugging Tomo

There is only one problem with the model , he has the trawl doors the wrong way round. The one up forrard should be swapped with the aft one and thats only because I'm an ex-trawlerman so 99% of people wouldn't even think there was anything wrong.

Fantastic detailing on it though

yr dead rite Davey, i spotted that when i first checked it out yesterday, obvious to us but not to a modeler with no trawler experience, Ive seen it often at shows but haven't got the heart to say anything, after all the hours they spent on there model,  only to be told    "go forth and multiply"  ::)

I have actually left a message under the photo he posted in the trawlerphotos gallery explaining why the doors should be swapped over. I think that as he is such a detailed modeller he would appreciate having anything glaringly wrong pointed out. As you say Brian it is only someone who has been a fisherman that really knows how the boats are rigged that can pick out details like that so like you i'd normally not have the heart to tell him.

noticed it after looking at the Galaxie photos davie it was more the details of the winches and suchlike that I was speaking about ie the blocks and aft gantry that I saw on the blogwhich was what I had seen before starting the topic especially the variable pitch prop

I had to look several times to convince myself that it was a model not a real boat too Will , the scratch building of all the winches and blocks etc and the painting is absolutely spot on and must have taken hundreds of hours of work.

Hi TT
Got to agree with you, that paint job is something else.

Have u checked out the construction details - that looks like a working variable pitch prop!! Bit disappointed the hydraulic crane didn't seem to work ;)

I've got a mate who does weathering like that on rolling stock, I'll try & get hold of some sites from him.

Man I feel like giving up the hobby after seeing that level of detail :(

I think I'll head down the Doctors as soon as they open for some course of Prozac!

Hi Longshanks
I would appreciate that a lot.
Very often you see pictures of completed stuff but very rarely the 'how to'.

Oh dear, I hope the forum will actually READ what I write and not every other word. Firstly there is no doubt that the skill employed to make this model is exemplary, and shows what can be achieved given time, patience and refusal to accept near enough as not good enough. It shows museum display quality building of the first order, but it also is a "worker", can't help wondering at his anxiety level when sailing and transferring shore to water and water to shore and back into its display case. You don't need to ask for Prozacs Voyager cos in build quality YOUR skill levels put some of our contributions not to shame, but found wanting, but we all float our boats for different reasons and get different enjoyment levels in the pursuit of our hobby.Whilst the level of weathering is superb, if it were full size, I doubt if the Elfins would allow it to sail with the level of corrosion displayed on some parts, LPG containers? Nevertheless, superb craftmanship.

  :) Hi,

Happy new year! I hope 2008 shall be a wonderfull and marvellous year for you, full of model boat!  O0

About GALAXY, I had seen it in the port of Saint Gilles Croix de Vie (vendée, France) before that it made its last exit , before its scapbulding. It was the oldest and most abim of the port, but it was the most beautiful! It was for me a blow of heart!!!

For the links of the other french craftmanship friend's, here are about some (Sorry, i dont know if it's the right place to talk about this...):

And here is the link of my model boat club:

My new website since two days on there:

I think of me I go with some another friends of my model boat club to the WARWICK hexibition's(expo)in November.

I hope than you understand me....! :embarrassed:  ;D  {-)
