What do you need to know about it?  What it does, how it is connected etc?

You basically have a master unit which can operate such things as the engine noises such as a diesel engine or a steam engine and this has any number of slave units, up to three I think, that operate such things as gun noises, telegraph bells, whistles etc.

The master engine units are connected via a "Y" connector to your speed controller so they follow the speed of the engine and the slave units are operated by spare channels on your reciever.

I don't know what master unit you will have in your model but it will be some sort of arrangement similar to what i've described.  If you want I can scan and send you a copy of the leaflet that you recieve with the units if you PM me with your e-mail address.

You're welcome Alan and if you come across any further questions, which from what you are saying you are almost certainly going to have, then don't hestitate to ask.

It sounds like a bit of a shame that someone has thrown vast amounts of money at a model but not really paid enough attenton to the important things such, as the build quality.  You should also bear in mind at this point that the JJC items are no longer supported or supplied by anyone so if you do encounter any problems with them there is a possibility that you will never be able to get them resolved.  I would do a lot of thorough bench testing before committing to fitting these items and only progress if you are happy that they will all work reliably.

I do know that some people have had concerns regarding compatibility issues with JJC components and thier models and my own "Old Smokey" definately interferes with RX reception when in operation in my Envoy tug.

Take your time and tread very carefully and feel free to ask on here every step of the way.

I've had some correspondence with my namesake Dave at Harbor Models in the USA. He is bringing out a very similar unit to the defunct Old Smokey and hopes to have it on the market around the end of this month. Heaven knows I tried to get a UK agency for it but he wants to sell it direct over the Internet. Anyway, if you're searching for a JJC one (which would probably die quickly, like most seem to do) then maybe save your money and wait for Dave's?

Info posted for what it's worth; "caveat emptor" and all that (aka "suit yourselves").
