Steve Neill's New Book on RC Sub Modeling
« on: January 11, 2008, 04:31:16 am »

Steve Neill has released his new book on RC sub modeling http://subpirates.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=3563. Its available in CD & is a must for anyone serious in building RC subs or boats, especially those interested in FRP.

He has already started thinking about doing another book on plastic sub kit conversions beginning with the Trumpeter Seawolf. Both the Kilo & Seaview will follow. He's asking for comments so feel free to post your's here http://subpirates.com/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=3665 .

Considering the new Lindberg IJN subs & Special Navy Type IIA due out this year, I do believe think he's onto something for us dummies out there. O0

Total cost for the shipping to Scotland was $4 so I think its either $22 or $24 in total and worth every penny. Far better than any of the other books on submarine building i've bought. Steve is also working on another CD on converting the Trumpeter Seawolf and Kilo kits into working static diving rc models too which should be ready in a few months.

Just to point out that a alot of the instuction on making a master and moulding the hull is also applicable to boats and ships.
Click on 'view sellers other items' and there should be another on ebay.

Thats a direct link to Steve Neils listings so you should be able to see if he has a CD listed without going through the other link I posted.

As Mankster has pointed out the techniques show in the CD are ideal for building surface models , instead of using the hull lines for a U-boat/etc you can change it to the hull lines for a Tug or Cargo boat and use the same moulding methods.

Davie ( and NO i'm not on commission lol )

Steve,

Glad to see you signed up at SP.  I think you'll find SP as informative & amusing as Mayhem's, although it can tend to get a little salty at times, especially once you get Dave Merriman excited.  Lots to learn especially in Dave's cabel reports as well as Steve's & others' work.
