Fine Sundays out at Llanberis lake.
« on: February 23, 2008, 12:47:43 pm »

I recently visited the UK and spent two Sundays with fellow mayhemers at Llanberis.

I would like to give a special thanks to Stavros and the Welsh druid who made me extra welcome and lent me boats to play with. And a thanks to the other kind gent who allowed me to sail his schooner.

I have posted some pictures by way of thanks.

Llanberis has a beautiful lake in the shelter of Mount Snowdon, the only thing you could wish for is a bit more wind. It will be a great venue for the mayhem event in August.

some more pics

First a lovely schooner.
This has rudder control only and still sails very well. I had the pleasure for sailing her.

Also amoungst this is a disguised Happy Hunter. The story behind this boat has lots of jam on it.

and a few more

Including a lovely TID tug and a Pentland ketch with auxilary power (and a half).
I had the pleasure of sailing both of these as well.

Second Fine Sunday

A bit sunnier but a lot colder.
Sadly no wind, so no sailing on this day.

some more

Pictures #79 and #81 are the Welsh Druid's Metcalf's Moonbeam, a lovely boat. Unfortunately there was no wind to sail her that day. There are more pictures on the Moonbeam thread.

These pictures sum up our hobby for me.

The ups and downs, the freinds that help each other, and the surroundings we can play in.

That's all folks.

Dave, it was indeed a pleasure to sail there, especially the walk up the river :) that was enjoyable as well.

nothing beats smooth big waters where you can open a boat up, backed up with friendly locals, and more importantly, a bloomin good cafe near by!

There is a lot of work by Metcalf's and the the Welsh Druid and I would hate to these pictures hijacked by the web pirates.

Paul
