Antivirus Programs Crashing
« on: March 01, 2008, 02:05:11 pm »

Heeellpp, please
Up until recently My Avast home edition, Spyware Bot Search and Destroy, and even AVG all fail to run. When i run Avast i get Ashavast.exe is not a valid win32 Application. This also happens with Spyware bot. Now AVG says it cant connect to server or something like that then stops before its even run.  :-\
I'm concerned as it seems to have left my PC without any protection. >>:-(
So if anyone has any suggestions at all, they would be more than welcomed. Many thanks Alan.

If they fail to run try and install another free anti-virus programme, if this is ok try and delete and reinstall the others.
If not the safest way that I know is a complete wipe and install.
But you might hear more from others.

try installing spywearblaster , i had problems with the computer crashing at home and it stated refusing to update the avg, i installed it and it now updates the virus checkers and spywear removers with no faults, i had a downoader.agent virus that avg couldnt find or remove till i installed spywearblaster to block the thing reinstalling , once that was running ii could update the virus software, then avg found the virus, it still wouldnt remove it, but found it, you need to manualy delete the file if it finds it, then update the virus checkers, preferably by clean install of the virus and spywear software then update it, not just updating them without reinstalling
